What is Democracy?

The definition of democracy on dictionary.com is… government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

Democracy is a government such as ours in America, which the people of the country pick people to run their country. It is a good system of government, however it does have flaws.  One being, that you have to elect a president by their intentions and not their actions.

What do you think about democracy?

Do you define a person by their actions, or their intentions?

Do you define a person by their actions, or their intentions?

I believe that you define a person by their actions.  If you have two people, one that is thinking about saving his little brother so he robs a CVS to get medicine and then the other person who helps the homeless or some other good deed, who looks better? The person with the intention to do good is judged by that action, regardless if their intention was to make the headline news or get their name is the paper.  This is also held true with the person that robbed the store.  You don’t judge them by their intention to save their little brother, you judge them by their action of robbing the bank.  So I strongly think that either way you look at it, actions are the thing that everyone is defined for, whether or not it is the right thing.  Just think, are famous people remembered for what they did, or what they intended to do but never did.  I just think it comes down to what you did, because that is what people see and think of you.

Please comment with your perspective.  And remember to think about your intentions and they best way you actions can reflect them so that you are not wrongly judged for your ations, even though your intentions may have been very good ones.

Hello fellow Americans,

I am writing from my time, 2060.  I understand that it was very different back in your time than it is now.  We have flying cars, and people have TV’s in their arm.  The world is very different, and I just can’t imagine what is like for you people.  We no longer have a president, we have a new type of government.  This is a very hard one to explain, however it works and there are a lot fewer problems than you guys face today.  I would like to know more about your life in 2009.

Bye for now.

My name is Jeff. I have been blogging for school, a total of about 7 1/2 months now. I love sports and being active.  I am easy to talk to. I am very easy going and let things go very easily.

Tell me about you..

Social Studies Class

Okay so we have to write a post about social studies class.  First, if you don’t know, my social studies classes are unlike any other class you have ever been in, seen, taught, or heard about.  My teachers name is Paul Bogush.  He loves nature and being outside, but yet you will use more technology in his class than in any other one.  We go on laptops basicially everyday, and utilize blogs and wikis as well.  He always teaches with a different “something” then what you might normally expect from a social studies class.  Whether you decide that you like the difference or not, he sticks to his game plan.  He un-schools you; he teaches you life lessons and things that will truely help you, unlike when your doing your math homework and say that your never going to use it later in life.  He lives on a farm, grows a lot of the things that he eats, and yet has realized that it would be to everyone’s disadvantages not to utilize the technology that has been placed at our fingertips.  He loves to simply give you a task, and then not give any directions on how to go about doing it or answering every question.  It can get challenging at times, but you have tools around you and a good basis to attempt his proposals.

All in all, my social studies class isn’t normal.  You do some many unusual and interesting things that it is …  My social studies class is like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Random Acts of Kindness

yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo

Original Post

What is Kindness?

An act of kindness is a spontaneous gesture of goodwill towards someone or something – our fellow humans, the animal kingdom, and the kingdom of nature. Kind words and deeds come from a state of benevolence, generated by a core response deep within all of us.

Also, …

When we carry out an act of kindness, it is a message from one heart to another, an act of love, an unspoken “I care” statement.”

SO.. what acts of kindness could you preform for others?  Could you give someone that you know an “I care statement.”  Think of how you also could help out in the environment? Could you help to recycle, or throw away spare trash that you find.  Every little bit helps.

A Wonderful Place

I would want to travel the whole world and visit all the 7 natural wonders of the world.  I have never left the U.S. and think that those spots would be really great places to start.   They are supposed to be beautiful and I really would like to see these natural wonders of the world.

One Wish

The following post is in response to this question..

If you could make one wish, just one, what would it be?

Of course you cannot wish for more wishes, and you also cannot make a wish for yourself.  The wish has to be for someone else.  Who would it be for?  What would it be?  Why did you chose that person?  How will the person benefit from your wish?  Why do they need your wish to make their dream come true?

Here we go.

If I could have one wish, it would be for my mom.  She works hard everyday for me and my siblings.  She sacrifices her own happiness and well-being to make our lives better.  She can get very frustrated and sort of upset because me and brother don’t always show her how much we really appreciate her. She works nights so that she can go to me and my brother’s many basketball and football games and practices.  Sometimes she goes a few days with only a couple hours of sleep a night at best.  She has mastered humility as well as self-less-ness to perfection.  I wrote this to show her how much I really do appreciate all that she does and tell her that I think she deserves this wish to get a break from her hectic life. I also plan to show this to my mom, so that she will know just how much I really do care.  She absolutley is the one person that is most deserving of this wish.
